Temporary exhibition: ‘Between Volunteering and Commitment: The Story of an Island Fire Station Put to the Test’.

Through this exhibition, discover the history of the Île d’Yeu fire station, from its founding to the present day. From volunteering to the professionalisation of their trade, join the island’s firefighters (both men and women) who have served over the years and dedicated part of their time to rescuing the local population.
You can also explore the history of the major fires that have shaped island life and the numerous operations carried out by this exceptional fire station.
Extend your visit with oral accounts, various archive materials and numerous photographs. You’ll be able to gain an insight into the daily lives of these firefighters, for whom solidarity is the core value.
