La Cavatine Concert: THE BAROQUE ENCHANTED FLUTE, BACH

A concert of Baroque sacred music featuring vocals, the transverse flute and the organ.

Having previously celebrated Mozart’s clarinet and then the violin of the Baroque masters, this summer La Cavatine brings to life the transverse flute – known as the flauto traverso or German flute – which reached its zenith under Johann Sebastian Bach.
The pieces performed here are among the Cantor’s most remarkable works, including the sublime cantata BWV 82 *Ich habe genug* (*I am content*) and a rarity in Italian, the cantata BWV 209 *Non sa che sia dolore* (He knows not what sorrow is), and dazzling instrumental pieces, such as the Partita for solo transverse flute in A minor, BWV 1013, and the Sonata for transverse flute in C major, BWV 1033.
