In July, the USA will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its independence. France provided military support to the Americans against the British, on land but above all at sea. Sailors from the Île d’Yeu, serving on the squadrons commanded by Admirals De Grasse, D’Estaing and de Ternay, took part in these battles, and some of them paid with their lives.
