Saint-Sauveur au fil des rues

The village was the island's capital until the 18th century.
As such, it was the seat of the parish and the residence of the governor and tax prosecutor under the Ancien Régime. This tour of the back streets of Saint-Sauveur will take you through its history, back to a time when the island's main livelihood was coastal shipping, agriculture and livestock farming.

You'll discover the island's traditional architecture and learn more about the restoration of the church, which was the only one on the island for nearly eight centuries.
