Louis Brigand and Alain Mousnier, a university lecturer, specialist in islands and former president of the Savoir-Faire des îles du Ponant association: What is insularity and how is it experienced in the Ponant islands?

Louis Brigand, a geographer and anthropologist, is France’s undisputed expert on islands. A professor at the University of Western Brittany, he co-edited the collective work *Iles, Regards croisés sur l’insularité* (Georama), the result of a 2019 symposium on the subject.

As scientific adviser to the Association des Îles du Ponant, he studies how islanders live on their islands and the ambiguous relationship they forge with the mainland.

Together with Alain Mousnier, the island’s famous pastry chef and a local councillor deeply committed to promoting the traditional skills of the Ponant Islands, they will explain what insularity means today and how it is experienced on the Ponant Islands.

This event will serve as a prelude to the Festival des Insulaires, which will take place on Yeu on 18, 19 and 20 September.

Free entry, from 11.00 am, at the Citadelle meadow, opposite 31 Rue de Pierre-Levée.
