Pierre Breton, an organic winegrower in the Loire Valley: The crisis in French winegrowing – is organic farming the solution?

The French wine industry is struggling. Consumption is in steady decline, climate change is having an impact, exports are under pressure due to geopolitical factors, and international competition is intensifying against a backdrop of reduced demand.

Many estates are closing down and cannot find buyers.
Not all regions are affected equally, nor are all types of wine.

Catherine and Pierre Breton, heirs to two long-standing family traditions in the Tours region, have built their estate on the principles of natural, organic and biodynamic viticulture in the Bourgueil, Chinon and Vouvray appellations.
Pierre will champion this demanding, quality-focused model as a response to the crisis and a commitment to the future.

Free entry, from 11.00 am, at the Citadelle meadow, opposite 31 Rue de Pierre-Levée.
