Artificial Intelligence: understanding the issues at stake to manage its effects

Two years on from our first Artificial Intelligence Symposium, which followed the sudden emergence of ChatGPT and other chatbots in our lives, what is the current state of AI deployment?
It is everywhere, often invisible, yet omnipresent. It shapes our daily lives, transforms businesses, redraws the geopolitical balance and raises major ethical questions. As a technology capable of widespread transformation, it is evolving day by day, driven by colossal investment.

It is vital for each and every one of us to understand the issues at stake, if we are not to be manipulated by AI and its proponents, and to manage its effects whilst upholding democratic values. To help us in this regard, we will be hearing from a young researcher at the heart of the research system. Romain Therezien is a PhD student at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. His thesis focuses on fairness in facial recognition.
