- Proposal for a time based on Non-Violent Communication.
A number of people have recently come up with the idea of meeting 6 times between January and June, on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm, at La Citadelle, for a time of sharing and practising Non-Violent Communication (NVC).
The idea would be to survey Marshall Rosenberg's book
"Words are windows (or they are walls)": read about 2 chapters / fifty pages a month, then get together to discuss what we've read and understood, and do practical exercises to practise NVC.
I recently completed my training (basic modules, not a certified trainer) in Non-Violent Communication, and I'm very keen to continue practising and bringing these tools to life on the island, to support healthier relationships and more conscious communication.
These times would be open and caring, with the possibility :
- just come and listen
- participate at your own pace
- invite other people if you think they might enjoy it.
NVC can have a real impact in many areas of life: family relationships, relationships with children, associations, work, community groups, and more broadly in the way we relate to each other. Let's make conflict a gift for growing and moving forward together.
A framework of confidentiality, respect and security will be established, with the possibility of working from imagined situations, role-playing or supports.
The richness of surveying and practising non-violent communication is based on a collective and progressive process. Attendance at all the sessions, if possible, is an important support.
